Each October, YWCA Dayton recognizes the strength and resilience of domestic violence survivors at our annual Voices Against Violence event. That’s one day during Domestic Violence Awareness Month dedicated to supporting YWCA Dayton’s domestic violence shelters, 24/7 Crisis Hotline, and wrap-around support services. This event is critical for raising awareness about the widespread crisis of domestic violence in our community, and your support is critical to supporting our front-line services. As the operator of the only domestic violence shelters in Montgomery and Preble counties – with a corresponding 24/7 crisis hotline – each day we support and shelter more than 100 women and children seeking lives free from violence.
The evening also includes the recognition of our annual Survivor Award, which honors women and organizations who embody the spirit of survivorship and resilience. This award recognizes words and actions that exemplify, inspire, set an example, and celebrate the spirit of a survivor who has overcome the odds and continued on an amazing journey, whether personally or professionally.
