Our Signature Events and Programs
Voices Against Violence
Each October, YWCA Dayton recognizes the strength and resilience of domestic violence survivors at our annual Voices Against Violence event. That’s one day during Domestic Violence Awareness Month dedicated to supporting YWCA Dayton’s domestic violence shelters, 24/7 Crisis Hotline, and wrap-around support services. This event is critical for raising awareness about the widespread crisis of domestic violence in our community, and your support is critical to supporting our front-line services. As the operator of the only domestic violence shelters in Montgomery and Preble counties – with a corresponding 24/7 crisis hotline – each day we support and shelter more than 100 women and children seeking lives free from violence.
Sojourn Leadership Academy
Women of Influence
The Sojourner Leadership Academy is a significant and timely investment in nurturing the next generation of women leaders dedicated to advancing racial, gender, and economic justice. In keeping with the program’s legacy and intentions, it is designed to offer a cohesive and transformative experience for each participant throughout the Academy. Participants receive acilitative leadership that ensures learning is integrated across sessions, community is continually nurtured, and the program’s values are embodied from start to finish.
Women of Influence is an annual celebration honoring six of Dayton’s most influential women who have made a difference in the local community through their dedication to the mission of the YWCA. Honorees are not only leading in their respective fields, but also helping author what comes next for our community. Women of Influencer serves as our largest annual fundraiser to support our mission of empowering women, eliminating racism, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
