Annual Meeting celebrates YW impact

 YWCA Dayton welcomed community partners, elected officials and members of the public to our annual meeting this week, celebrating our impact in 2022 and anticipating the possibilities for 2023.

We reflected on an incredible year on mission in 2022. That includes:

• 6,751 hotline calls answered
• Over 450 youth served by our prevention programs
• The launch of a 24/7 online chat option for our crisis hotline (Chat at www.ywcadayton.org)
• 72 pieces of legislation endorsed
• 50 pairs of shoes and 38 coats distributed by our Children's Programs

One illustrative statistic that President & CEO Terra Williams noted was that YW's domestic violence shelter served more than 31,000 meals onsite in 2022. That's up from 22,000 meals the year prior.The largest drive of this increase? A growing number of children living in our shelter."We have a collective responsibility to focus on our core service as a shelter from the storm," Williams said. "We have to bring in new partners who give monthly donations, to ensure we can let women, children and families know they are safe, sheltered and cared for. We have to make 2023 the year that we build up our fiscal foundation and our community network, so we can guarantee YW’s role in the community as a life-saving nonprofit for another 150 years."
