Housekeeper | Position Description

YWCA Dayton, dedicated to the empowerment of women and the elimination of racism, seeks an energetic, dedicated person to be an integral part of our team. The Housekeeper provides a safe and clean environment for YWCA residents, clients, employees, and visitors by performing comprehensive housekeeping tasks that ensure tidy and sanitary facilities. The Housekeeper will come into daily contact with residents, employees, and visitors to the organization and will have positive interpersonal skills. This person has the opportunity to make a difference daily and supports the vision, mission, and values of YWCA Dayton.


  • Performs daily quality cleaning and sanitation of lobby and offices, restrooms, common areas and floors.
  • Properly disposes of all garbage on a daily basis.
  • Understands procedures and properly disposes of infectious waste and trash when necessary.
  • Uses cleaning chemicals properly according to regulatory standards.
  • Handles emergency cleaning needs immediately and efficiently.
  • Uses supplies appropriately and effectively.
  • Maintains work and storage areas following established policy and procedures to ensure safety.
  • Reports problems with equipment, supplies and facility in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Sensitivity to needs of women and families served.
  • Flexibility, creativity, self-motivation and the ability to establish rapport with a culturally-diverse population.


  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • One year of professional cleaning experience preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare or social service agency setting strongly preferred.


  • Must be responsive to the needs and requests of clients, residents, staff and Board of Directors.
  • Must extend courtesy, friendliness and overall respect to all of the above.
  • Will collaborate with other staff and/or departments to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Will be available to times and events when evenings and weekends will be required to fulfill duties.

ANTICIPATED SALARY RANGE: $24,960 per year plus health insurance benefits, based on experience.  Evening and weekend hours may be required.
