Grants Manager | Position Description

YWCA Dayton, dedicated to the empowerment of women and the elimination of racism, seeks an energetic, dedicated person to be an integral part of our team.  The Grants Manager is responsible for writing and maintaining grant proposals for operational and program revenue, including identifying, engaging and retaining strategic diversity with private, government and public grants. Executing and meeting revenue targets, diversifying, and increasing and stabilizing a grant portfolio are imperative in order to increase corporate operational revenue, grant partnerships, program impact and create YWCA mission awareness.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for managing the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation, government and corporate sources in the private and public sector.
  • Performs prospective research in collaboration with program staff and masters understanding of sources to maximize grant funding opportunity and foster building the relationship.
  • Collaborates with the finance department to gather financial information for applying and reporting to funders, Board, and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversees grant reporting processes and maintains accurate, meticulous standards with all grant reporting as required by donors in conjunction with program and finance staff.
  • Provides stewardship in communication to the grant portfolio; including regular updates to Board, donors and internal and external stakeholders via existing internal and external venues of communication.
  • Represents and maintains YWCA visibility through visits, collaborative meetings or onsite tours for supporters, foundation and government grantor representatives.
  • Maintains records in database and in accordance to grant specifications and organizational governance.
  • Collaborates with the Department of Development and in conjunction with program leadership provides information necessary for donor stewardship.
  • Acquires and maintains sound knowledge of the organization, and uses that knowledge and understanding to better comprehend all projects and programs for which grants will be sought and to recommend the seeking of grants.
  • Maintains master calendar for all grant activity, to include submitted proposals and grant requests.
  • Maintains a balanced grant portfolio reflective of corporate financial needs and organizational strategic plan.
  • Responsible for coordinating organizational expertise in program logic models.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of writing and/or grant proposals (must submit writing sample).
  • High level written, oral and presentation skills; and an ability to relate with poise and self-confidence to diverse groups and stakeholders.
  • Keen understanding of the YWCA mission, vision, history and programs.
  • Comfort and agility in community engagement and a developed skill in relational savvy.
  • Knowledge of trends in philanthropic giving and corporate social marketing and government grants and contracts is essential, as well as familiarity with fundraising laws and regulations
  • Established funder contacts with demonstrable superior results in soliciting corporate sponsorship, philanthropic fundraising, and public funded grants.
  • Solid grant writing and proposal development skills with corporate and foundation funders, and ability to understand and match the needs and objectives of the prospective donors with fundraising goals of the YWCA.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and championing of the organizational mission and vision.
  • Must be able to work independently and be an enthusiastic self-starter, who is intelligent, highly creative and innovative in designing and planning, hard-working, punctual, detail-oriented, and personable, with strong organizational skills.
  • Must be a progressive learner who works well in deadline-driven environments.
  • Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
  • Monitors and meets income commitments.

COMMITMENT TO SERVICE:

  • Must be responsive to the needs and request of staff, volunteers, donors and Board of Directors.
  • Must extend courtesy, friendliness and overall respect to all of the above.
  • Will collaborate with other staff and/or departments to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Will be available to times and events when evenings and weekends will be required to fulfill duties.

ANTICIPATED SALARY & BENEFITS:

  • $45,000 – $50,000 annually

    • Automatic enrollment in the YWCA National Retirement Fund upon completion of two years of employment (1,000 hours or more worked per year). Employer contributes 5% and YWCA USA contributes 2% to contribute a total of 7% of gross pay.
