Associate Director, Development | Position Description

YWCA Dayton, dedicated to the elimination of racism and the empowerment of women, seeks an energetic, dedicated person to be an integral part of our team. The Associate Director, Development reports to the Vice President o Development and is responsible for major gifts, annual giving, and special events, and oversees management of the grants team and donor database. This person will execute the strategy set by the executive team, and meet or exceed annual goals and objectives.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists w/Development of strategy specific to major fundraising events, consults with departments on all new events, and organizes event committees as appropriate.
    • Including but not limited to Women of Influence, Voices Against Violence, and Purple Paws.
  • Manages Raiser’s Edge NXT database and maximizes donor revenue through database utilization.
  • Integrates the mission with fundraising strategy and special events by identifying solutions to gaps in giving at the intersections of race, class, and gender.
  • Implements programs/activities to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors targeted at the $1,000+ level or higher, personally solicits assigned donor portfolio
  • Delivers high-quality, effective written and oral presentations and proposals to stakeholders and varying levels
  • Ensures compliance with Dayton YWCA and YWCA USA policies, procedures, programs and best practices.
  • Oversees, organizes, and stewards corporate volunteer groups in collaboration with the Community Relations Coordinator
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High-level written, oral, and presentation skills; an ability to relate with poise and self-confidence to diverse groups and stakeholders.
  • Keen understanding of the YWCA mission, vision, history, and programs.
  • Comfort and agility in community engagement and well-developed skills in relational savvy.
  • Demonstrated commitment to, and championing of, the organizational mission and vision.
  • Must be able to work independently and be an enthusiastic self-starter, who is intelligent, highly creative, and innovative in
  • designing and planning; hard-working, punctual, detail-oriented, and personable, with strong organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and follow-through is a must.
  • Ability to concentrate and move easily from one project to another; the ability to multitask.
  • Confident; analytical; able to make decisions and take initiative.
  • Must have a strong respect for diversity and inclusion.
  • Possesses pleasant demeanor under stressful situations; able to work effectively under pressure.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor degree is required; advanced degree and/or philanthropic certification and training highly desirable.
  • Five years of work experience in development, major gifts, and/or capital campaigns. Nonprofit experience and familiarity with social service and social justice organizations highly desirable.
  • Experience with, and preference for, working in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and implementing a full development strategy.
  • Demonstrated customer service excellence and vendor management skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Raiser’s Edge NXT highly desirable.

ANTICIPATED SALARY AND BENEFITS:

  • $50,000 – $60,000 annually, based on experience

    • Automatic enrollment in the YWCA National Retirement Fund upon completion of two years of employment (1,000 hours or more worked per year). Employer contributes 7.5% and YWCA USA contributes 3% to contribute a total of 10.5% of gross pay.
