Shift Program Student Application
Welcome! Thank you for your interest in becoming a Shift peer educator — we are excited to have you join our team.
What is Shift?
Shift peer educators are rising upperclassmen students who serve as role models to provide health and wellness education to their fellow students through interactive programming, peer-to-peer outreach, and resource connections. Students are supported by trained YWCA Dayton prevention education staff. Together, we are reducing teen dating violence and laying the foundation for healthy adult relationships.
What will I do?
As a youth peer educator, you will gain the skills to talk to your peers about healthy sexuality, healthy and unhealthy relationships, relationship violence, bystander intervention, and more. Shift leaders commit to participating in training and 2 to 5 hours per week of work. You’ll become an important resource for your school community and beyond, and our trained staff will provide training and supervision the whole time to ensure you feel supported and have all the skills you need to make a difference. Plus: leaders who complete their commitment receive a $500 stipend!
How is the program operating during COVID-19?
We are accepting applications for Shift student leaders and will conduct all trainings and information sessions virtually until it is safe to resume in-person activities.
How do I get started?
If you haven’t already, start by picking up an enrollment packet from your school’s guidance office. Follow its instructions, including completing the application form below, and return your enrollment packet to your guidance office staff. Application and enrollment paperwork is due April 15, 2021, for participation in this year’s cohort.
I have questions. Who do I contact?
We encourage you or your parent/guardian to reach out any time by calling our Preble County Office at 937-336-5859 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
