October Newsletter

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

An estimated 1 in 3 women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and as the only domestic violence shelters in Montgomery and Preble counties, it is a critical month for us.

We are thankful for the incredible supporters who turned out the first week of October for Voices Against Violence and Purple Paws: Preble Pets Against Domestic Violence, our two signature events for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. If you missed the event, you can check out WHIO's coverage here.

A special thank you to everyone who has helped us #paintthetownpurple and has tied purple ribbons with our crisis hotline (937-222-SAFE) around Preble County, downtown Dayton, and The Greene.

There's still plenty of additional opportunities to this month to get involved:

  • Download our 24/7 Crisis Hotline flyer to display at your business or organization.

  • Join us MONDAY for a Facebook Live on domestic violence evolving in the digital age.

  • Read No Visible Bruises and RSVP to meet up and discuss 6 p.m. Oct. 25 at Sueño.

  • Listen to testimonies by YW clients, sharing what they are proud of.

Become a monthly donorto ensure these critical services continue all year long.
