Movies on a Mission

Movies on a Mission

Inspired by our fellow YWCA sisters around the country and in keeping with current social distancing guidelines, we’ve compiled a list of Media On a Mission: television shows, films, documentaries, books, podcasts, and playlists that are widely available and aligned with YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.

Each month, we’ll host a Netflix watch party for you to join staff and connect with friends around a mission-focused film. For July, we’ll be following up our special summer 21-Day Racial Equity and Social Justice Challenge by watching Episode 1 of When They See Us, based on the true story of five teens from Harlem who are falsely accused of a brutal attack in Central Park.
