Vice President – Community & Economic Development Manager, Fifth Third Bank
Marya Rutherford Long is vice president and community and economic development manager for the Dayton Region at Fifth Third Bank, and serves on the senior leadership team for the Dayton market. She manages the Community & Economic Development Program for the Dayton market, ensuring the Region’s compliance with the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), cultivating community partnerships, and executing community development strategies.
Marya has 25-plus years of CRA/community development experience, and has served in various community development management roles with PNC Bank, National City Bank, Provident Bank, and the Dayton View CDC. She currently serves as chair of the Homeownership Center of Greater Dayton and is a member of the Dayton Business Journal’s Diversity Committee and the Corporate Community Roundtable.
Her nominators had this to say: “She has used her influence over funding and resources to ensure people of color have access to financial and other supports to buy a home, start a business, or fund a program. In a very real sense, Marya is a product of YWCA Dayton, having lived there for eight years early in her life. In time, she was selected to serve as a YWCA Board member and has volunteered hundreds of hours to the organization, continuing to work with residents to help them strengthen and sustain.”
“She is a banking professional, a community volunteer, an ordained minister, and an advocate for the underserved. We often recognize women for the influence they make as a result of their careers, never knowing that they are who they are today because of the challenges and struggles they have overcome.”
