Y-Dub Discussions: Voting On a Mission @ Dayton Metro Library, Kettering-Moraine Branch

Populations that experience barriers to voting – domestic violence survivors, previously incarcerated individuals, or new U.S. citizens – need civic engagement tools that respect and acknowledge their unique challenges. Inspired by the Ready to Run Conference, join us for a discussion of trauma-informed voter engagement. Whether you’re an individual who wants to encourage neighborhood voter registration or you’re an organization trying to implement flexible policies that promote employee civic engagement, this Y-Dub Discussions will give you actionable ways to make a difference in the Miami Valley. Human resources professionals, managers, and community activists are especially encouraged to attend.

Featuring presenters Steve David, LSW, community engagement manager, The Ohio State University College of Social Work, and Colleen Dempsey, LISW, practice associate, Ohio Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.

YWCA Dayton is on a mission to eliminate racism and empower women. Previous Y-Dub Discussion topics have included School Board 101, which raised awareness for issues facing local schools, including the effects of trauma within the classroom; Recognizing Childhood Trauma, which explored toxic stress and the effects of lived trauma on our community systems; and YWomen Vote, which unpacked results of YWCA USA’s “What Women Want” report and looked at the political marginalization of women of color.
