2017 Purple Purse Challenge ended at 1:59 p.m. on Oct. 31. Including Bonus Challenges, your gifts helped provide more than 65 days of shelter for women and children fleeing abuse! Thank you!!
That puts us at 23% toward our goal of raising $40,000 in honor of our first domestic violence shelter's 40th anniversary.
In October, you watched us #PassThePurseDYT to recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This November, we’re giving you a chance to take the purse home – for good.
Every time you GIVE, SHARE, or VISIT, you’ll receive one entry to win our limited-edition Serena Williams purple purse!
This special bag is valued at $400, made of genuine Italian leather, and less than 250 exist (you can’t buy them in stores). Designed exclusively for the 2017 Purple Purse Challenge, not only is it a statement bag – it’s a bag that makes a statement, supporting domestic violence survivors and raising awareness of financial abuse.
Help us reach our goal of raising $40,000 to honor the 40th anniversary of our first domestic violence shelter.
Then, on #GivingTuesday – Nov. 28 – tune in at noon as we go Facebook Live to draw the purse winner!
The #GivingTuesday movement is all about collaboration – whether it’s giving time, a donation, or the power of your voice. ALL of those contributions make a difference to YW and the 125+ women and children we serve every day through our 24/7 domestic violence shelters and crisis hotline.
So this November, do some good – and you could win our Purple Purse, for good.
Rules & Regulations: YWCA Dayton employees not eligible to win. Donations received from Nov. 6-27 must equal or exceed the bag's value; if this threshold is not met, the bag will be auctioned via 72-hour online auction.
DETAILS OF THE 2017 PURPLE PURSE CHALLENGE:
Domestic violence is an epidemic that crosses race, religion
and economic class. This fall, you can help raise awareness of this critical
community issue with a few clicks of your mouse (or taps on your smartphone) by
supporting YWCA Dayton in the 2017 Allstate Foundation Purple Purse Challenge.
What is the Purple Purse Challenge?
For the second year in a row, YWCA Dayton has been chosen as one of
only about 200 organizations to participate in this nationwide crowdfunding
competition sponsored by the Allstate Foundation. Between Oct. 2 and Oct. 31,
the organizations in each of two divisions that raise the most funds will
receive an additional grant from Allstate, up to $100,000. See YWCA Dayton's Challenge page HERE.
What can I do?

How will I make an impact?
YWCA Dayton is the oldest provider of services and support
to victims of domestic violence in Montgomery and Preble counties, providing
the only domestic violence shelters for those fleeing abuse, as well as the oldest 24/7 crisis and domestic violence hotline in Montgomery County and the only such hotline in Preble County. Your contributions
will help make an immediate difference for women and children seeking safety by
ensuring the continuation of shelter services and professional crisis
intervention and support.
