Single Room Occupancy
The YSRO is a permanent subsidized housing program specifically designed for single women ready for the next steps of their transition toward a safe, secure future and living wage income. It is a bridge over the complex barriers of poverty, lack of training, and isolation. It is women helping women with the assistance of professional staff and volunteer mentors.
The YWCA Dayton provides 96 single room occupancy rooms to a diverse population of women from all different backgrounds. The SRO remains one of the safest and most affordable places for women in the Dayton Area. Fair market rent for a studio or one bedroom apartment in the downtown area average between $500 and $560 a month depending on factors like apartment condition and amenities and do not include utilities or water. The YWCA Dayton offers rooms based on income including utilities, a computer center, optional supportive services, social and recreational activities and a secured building. Each floor has community areas including lounges, kitchens, laundry facilities and bathrooms. Additionally, each room is furnished with a bed, dresser, sink, and closet. Rent is based on 30% of gross income.
